Fields medalists 2014

The Fields medals are awarded every four years, to up to four mathematicians under 40 years of age, for major contributions to mathematics research. The prize is widely considered to be the equivalent of a Nobel prize in mathematics. In 2014, Fields medals were awarded to Artur Avila, Manjul Bhargava, Martin Hairer and Maryam Mirzakhani, for their work in dynamical systems, number theory, stochastic partial differential equations, and complex geometry.
